Developing the skills of the leaders of SMEs is high on the Government's agenda as they are such a key sector of the economy. The Learning Connection is recognised to work with the programmes of two Business Link areas, MKOB (Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire) and Northamptonshire. Both areas ofeer a programme aimed at leaders of companies of between 20 and 250 people. The MKOB programme is called 'Business Leaders' and that for Northamptonshire, 'Lead to Succeed'.

Up to £1,000 is available for one senior manager of eligible organisations to spend on their personal development. As long the development opportunities relates to an item on their Personal Development Plan (produced as part of the process) there is a great deal of flexibility on how it is spent.

The Learning Connection helps to develop Personal Development Plans using a variety of diagnostic tools. As a learning provider, it has concentrated on cost effective coaching as a means of assisting leaders to develop the capability to face their challenges.
